In cataloguing his “new eclectic bodies, forms of physical wit, anterior motives and intention spans”, Jayemanne captures the energy of this intellectual moment, and announces a historical question unlike any other, while looking forward to how we’ll study ourselves tomorrow. While game studies is beset on all sides by the recumbent social sciences, human-computer interaction models, the remnants of a dissipated and digitized humanities, scholars are still returning to the big and critical questions of how things make meaning. Explore, download and play Ricochet Infinity and Ricochet Lost Worlds level sets created by the community. By reversing and inverting cherished and long-held models of reading videogames, Jayemanne has built the case for considering literary, art and game framing devices all together. FYI: The version from BigFishGames has no issues with Windows 10, and is still available. Unplayable: cyclic lag/micro-freeze every 3 secs while playing. “As soon as we begin from the problematic of resolving how videogames are performatively framed, Jayemanne lines up a history which immediately falls into view. Ricochet Infinity > General Discussions > Topic Details. Performativity in Art, Literature and Videogames promises to be both a key text for an ambitious game studies, and a provocative invitation to rethink and re-view the philosophies, histories, and futures of art and media from a ludic perspective.” (Seth Giddings, Associate Professor of Digital Culture and Design, Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton, UK) Matching astute analysis of popular games with philosophical and anthropological insight, the book is challenging and thought-provoking throughout. ![]() ![]() Youll recognize each level initially - maybe but weve taken the new Infinity stuff and mixed it in. ![]() For all those fans that enjoyed the first Ricochet Xtreme those levels have now been recreated - BUT WITH A TWIST. Jayemanne’s central concept of performative multiplicity draws critical attention to the aesthetics, cybernetics and lived experience of digital games as media in play, and articulates them with expressive and creative culture at large. Ricochet Xtreme Homage (211 rounds) By Alf and BigMama, posted on. “As the novelty of the academic study of videogames fades into institutional respectability and disciplinary convention there is a need more than ever for an ambitious theory of games and gameplay that insists on their strangeness, instability and messiness. ![]() I was really hopeful for Audulus and just spent 5 hours prototyping this morning. Audulus made it fun to use something close to pure math for synthesis, and Pure Data and Max are atrociously designed in the division between audio-rate and control-rate messages. If only I hadn’t just gotten a 16GB Windows 10 machine specifically for A4 and VCV, the latter of which is totally obfuscated from a development perspective outside of C++. Will I be able to open A4 patches in Windows A3 to copy over algorithms? The paywall for quality DSP learning resources just got way higher. Audulus is hands down the best modular software for DSP prototyping on windows. I can’t say it isn’t reasonable given Taylor’s resources, but that’s a huge personal blow. Pretty disappointed as a windows user, with no iOS devices. ![]() If you have any questions, I will be glad to answer them below. We will also continue to update the built-in library alongside the Mac releases. We have posted a beta of the new Windows/Linux version that should get it up to parity with the Mac version. We know this must be disappointing to our Windows/Linux users, so we will be offering free upgrades to Audulus 4 on Mac or iOS for any user with a valid Audulus 3 Windows/Linux license. Though we sometimes work with outside contractors for specific features, we don’t have the time and resources to hire someone to maintain the Windows/Linux version. We want Audulus 4 to be the best it can be, and it has become apparent that we can’t achieve that while spreading our development time between four platforms.Īs you can imagine, porting software is not the most fun or creative type of coding, and it has taken a considerable amount of time away from development of more and better Audulus features.Īudulus is written primarily by one person - Taylor Holliday. We’ll see Neal do something and we know what Peter’s going to say to this, and there’s something fun about that that we get to know these people. TD: I think because the show is about characters, and the longer we get to know these characters, as an audience, I think whether it’s conscience or unconscious, subconscious, we anticipate and we look forward to the anticipation of Peter’s reaction. TTC: White Collar is now in it’s fourth season. You’ve got to wear it.” So that was her idea. I didn’t know they were going to do the wig, but I was just walking down the hall, and this is before we started shooting the episode, and I walk into hair and makeup and there she’s got that blonde wig. And I thought that he and Marsha Thomason-Sykes had a wonderful chemistry there on screen, and it was also fun to see Marsha in that kind of outfit with that wig, so it was great. I don’t remember if I brought it up first or the producer did, but either way I thought it was a great role for him. I’ve known Bill for quite some time, and his name came up. TTC: Bill Bellamy gives a really nice performance. The writers have been able to continue to have Peter walk on that line of being a friend to Neal, and yet having to answer to his job as an FBI agent. What has caught me by surprise with Peter? I’d have to say that I’m always surprised and challenged at his ability to balance doing what’s right for Neal and doing what’s right for the FBI. TTC: Having played Peter Burke for four seasons now, is there anything that you’ve learned about Peter or anything that he has done that has most caught you by surprise? So, the biggest challenge is a mixture that you tell the story within those seven days where there is 12 hours allotted and you tell the story in the White Collar fashion, and make sure it’s snappy, it’s fun, it’s clever, and all those other adjectives we can think of for the show. You want to – you think of all these cool shots, but there just isn’t enough time in the day. The writers always write a wonderful big episode, so it seems, and you always want to be able to have a lot of coverage. TD: I think the biggest challenge for any of these episodes is the clock. TTC: What were some of the biggest challenges you faced while directing the episode? And it’s open enough so that – on our set that I can talk to Channing of whether or not the moment works, I can talk to Matt Bomer or Willie or Tiffani, whomever, and say, “Does that work? What do you guys think?” And then, the other thing is 90% of the time I’ll know whether or not the moment is right for me as far as acting. Tim DeKay: No, it’s not too difficult to be honest with you, because we had the writer, Channing Powell, who wrote the episode. TheTwoCents: Was it difficult for you to direct yourself on screen during this episode? Please read on to see what Tim had to say about his experience directing and some of his insight into his character. Tim DeKay also took on directing duties for tonight’s episode, “Empire City”. The relationship between the two men is certainly never boring and lately has been strained as Peter’s wife Elizabeth, played by Tiffani Thiessen, has asked Neal to lie to Peter to protect him from harm. But for the last four years, Tim has been most known for playing mostly steady FBI agent Peter Burke opposite Matt Bomer’s criminal informant/friend, Neal Caffrey, on USA’s White Collar. And who could forget his infamous turn as “Bizarro Jerry” on Seinfeld. Tim DeKay has guest starred on many recent TV shows, including Chuck, Hot in Cleveland, and an upcoming episode of Body of Proof. In this design, everyone has an exceptional view of the stage since they are above everyone else who is standing on the lower tiers." What to Look For in Flood Lights "Heineken House features a tiered floor system, emulating a sunken living room. "The structure was inspired by the architecture found throughout the Palm Springs area with the cantilevered slanted roof line, while the tiered approach takes on a more important purpose," he told House Beautiful. When choosing the lights, he kept in mind if the pieces are weatherproof, durable, and complemented the architecture of the surrounding area. We also chatted with lighting expert and executive at Corso Marketing Group Scott Cochran, who recently worked on the fixtures at this year's Heineken House at Coachella. To help, we're breaking down everything you need to know about buying flood lights and the very best styles that can illuminate your space-pun intended. Overall, you never know when a set of flood lights can simplify your day-to-night routine, so you don't want to procrastinate on adding them to your cart. (And in less ideal scenarios? Floodlights can deter potential intruders and can even provide more visibility should your property be impacted by a natural disaster. Usually placed near an entryway, a garage door, or an exterior wall, flood lights brighten the way as you take out the trash or get home after a late night. ![]() Known for providing bright, broad light over a certain area, flood lights are often seen at sports stadiums and in alleyways-but they also deserve a spot in your home. Tiki torches and garden lanterns might pack on the ambiance, and Dark Sky-certified lights may make a great eco-friendly choice, but if you want to maximize your shine, you simply can't go wrong with the best flood lights on the market. Though Mother Nature provides a radiant glow during the daytime, you'll need to find another way to illuminate your outdoor space once the sun sets. ![]() ![]() Also the commercial license is $2100/year/seat which at this point is 7x cost of fusion. Onshape has very limited surfacing and no CAM. The fact is there is no cheaper or more capable CAD program for industrial design. Personally I’m sticking with fusion because I have $300 to spend on a year of highly versatile design and manufacturing software. But they didn’t like how uncontrollably slow modeling or viewing a model could be (like when onshapes servers are bogged down with users). From what I understand the engineers loved the collaboration features built into the software ( they could all edit the same model simultaneously) and the sharing features (they could easily send a link to vendors with flexible privacy controls). I used Fusion as an industrial designer in an office that mainly used onshape. Also also classist people who think that "if you can't afford the license then find a new hobby" can find the nearest dumpster and deposit themselves in it until they've thought about the way they are gate-keeping something that brings people joy. I am not personally against this but I don't want to mar this post with talk of illegal activity, especially when pirating is not a viable option for a lot of people who are uncomfortable with it. Much love to the community here for making Fusion360 what it was.Įdit: Oh yeah, the alternatives suggested should be free or reasonably cheap. This should be a post solely for information about other CAD/CAM programs. So, what are your favorite alternatives to Fusion? What are their strengths, what are their weaknesses? What can they do, what can't they do? I'm aware that one program probably won't fulfill all the needs of Fusion, but a list of places with similar functionality is a start.Īgain, let's not debate the new decisions, there are other posts for that. ![]() I also was recently advertised SolidFace, which has some free licenses to give away, but I believe they are limited in number and in functionality. Solid Edge looks like it could be very similar to Fusion, but the UI has been puzzling me so far and there are not very many good tutorials on Youtube. So far, it doesn't seem like Blender is great for the parametric part/assembly modeling that Fusion is so good at, nor does it have CAM functionality (correct me if I'm wrong on any of these points). Personally, I downloaded Blender and Solid Edge Community Edition. That being said, I thought the community would be the best place to talk about other options. No matter how you feel about them, positive or negative, it is clear that if Autodesk does not revise their decision, many of us will be leaving and looking towards other programs to fulfill our needs. I'm hoping to start a semi-official thread on alternatives to Fusion360.įirst of all, this is not a post that is meant to strike debate over the new changes.
